The Banana Massacre

The banana massacre started on December 6th, 1928. The targets of this massacre were union workers of the United Fruit Company. This massacre took place in a small town just outside of Santa Marta, Columbia. The people on strike were asking for 8-hour workdays, 6-day workweeks, and the elimination of food coupons. The exact number of casualties is unsure; however, it has been estimated between 47 and 2000.
